Agility - Winter 10/11

I've been training Agility with Sisu in a dog school named ProCanis. Been very pleased about the lectures and we've gain much knowledge during the winter. Sisu is quite fast and passioned dog about agility, so I've really had to put in my best effort to run with her.

Here's few videos! The first video show's how everything goes wrong and the second one is a little more a succes! ;).

So, the track looked like this, the idea was to train us steering the dog from obstacle to antoher:

It was our first track with more than 3 obstacles, so I was quite happy that it turned out well in the end :). I still have much work with my own bodylanguage!

First we trained the track in smaller parts, before trying the whole track at once. Sisu was quite in a hurry, but during time she has learned to wait a little bit, but she's still a little tiger what comes to training, she'd just like to run like the wind ;).

We'll be attending a new course at ProCanis and some single trainings like Elina Jänesniemi on April. I'll get back with a report about obedience trainings some other time and try to be a bit more active with this version of my dog-blog!

Health Results and pictures

Sisu's back and hips was x-rayed last monday (28/02/2011) and both was healthy! Been almost a half year since my last post, time runs by so fast I always forgot to write to my english blog - even most of my friends nowdays speak English as their first language.

So, it's been quite a cold and snow filled winter. We have been training in agility and obedience training. I'll post some videos and pictures about that in my next post, here's some random pictures I've taken during the winter:

Welcome Jack!

Russelims - as we call the passion for jack russells is a strong fever and my sister have been infected for years now. After hard thinking we decided to buy a jrt together, but the dog would live with my sis and be with us at summers when my sis is at the farm with us.

So let me introduce, Toto's Tail's Lione, Jack (Jaska in finnish)! He will hopefully be Räyhä's sidekick and sisters new hobby-mate. I guess they are aiming for Agility when the puppy grows.

So hang on tight and prepare for a load of photos!

Well, to get back to the subject "Hobbies", Räyhä has taken huge spets forward in obedience training. He will also atten to agility trainings now when Sisu has her heath.

I was so proud of both of the dogs, about the steps they have taken in both sports. So, more reports later about how Räyhä's agility went, I hope it goes well.

In theory, but not in practice.

Had the obedience training theory went really well. Got much to think about before the real trainings starts. We have to decide what training routines we wanna start practicing. For example do I want my dogs to greet and play with other dogs before or after the trainings, do I want her to sit or lay down while we wait on our turn in the training field or can she just chill freely while we wait.

Definitely I do not want her to play with other dogs before the obedience training, after the training she can relax with other dogs, but not on the training field. And waiting freely would be the easiest choice for me, but waiting sitting or laying is probably my choice.

Then we get to the best part, shoooppiing! Need to buy those monsters some toys we use only while training and make a leash with no loop in the end. Gladly my parents own a company which makes custom leashes, collars and jackets so I'll make one of my own, it's very hard to find looples leashes!

Second thing I gotta do is a training diary, so this blog and my Finnish blog will be used as one, but no worries, I won't loose my humor and become a stiff obedience training fanatic ;)!

Summer pictures!

Heya again! I've totally forgot to write some things down to my English blog :). It's been very hot here in Finland. Not really been missing traveling to Spain or other warm countries 'cause we've had a heath weave here in Finland for couple of months, the temperature has been rising to over 40 Celsius (About 104 ºF) in the sun and almost 40 Celsius in the shadow, when the usual temperature in Finland by the summer is closer to 30 Celsius (about 86 ºF).

So, we've mostly been drinking lot of of water and laying in the sun. Even the evenings has been so hot I've not managed to do more than few tracking practices, but the few have gone very well with both the dogs. Gonna do some more, now when the temperature is lower.

We're gonna start an obedience class with Sisu today and we've few other obedience trainings also booked for the fall. Nice to get some professional coaching in obedience, perhaps we're some day gonna start in a competition as well, but I think agility is more our thing what comes to competing.

Next Tuesday we're gonna attend a health check with Sisu and her sister, we're gonna check her eyes, knees and hearth. Health and keeping the breed healthy is very, very important to me.

Well, gonna tell you the results when I get em', until that, here's some swimming pics I took a week ago

Summer came!

Heya everyone! I've been so buzy lately that I've totally forgot the blog - sorry for that! It's been such a great weather here in Finland - or now it's raining, but the nature needs the water aswell.

Sisu's firs heat is over and she'll soon turn one, my little girl gone big! Tested tracking with her for the firs time couple of weeks ago and she - again - made me such a proud mama. She tracked like she'd always done it. Well, I guess he does it all the time on her own, but still, so proud of her. She showed some good jackrussell nature.

Need to do some harder tracks to Räyhä, but gotta buy some blood first, not gonna leave th elg leg in the forest over night. It will be stoled by some wild animal. Well, gotta try the over night old blood track next time.

Next week we're attending our first Rally-obedience training. No damn idea what it is, but you gotta try everything, right?
